I am pleased to be able to share so many vegetable plants, allowing anyone to experience a little bit of life as a farmer. Your donations via my farm table box or Venmo helps me buy seeds and supplies for next year. Enjoy!

On the farm table: Sunflowers, dwarf red coreopsis, calendula, lettuce ‘Yugoslavian Red’, parsley, Japanese parsley.

On 3 April I finished the first planting of basil. Tomorrow I will be planting sunflowers and dill.

Don’t forget that the wild rabbits also like vegetables!

Some flowers are growing in the greenhouse, but not yet ready to leave home: cosmos rubenza, calendula ‘Bronzed Beauty’, nasturtium ‘Bloody Mary’, dwarf red coreopsis, zinnia ‘Purple Prince’, zinnia ‘Benary’s Giant’, and Pollinator Party Mix.

Two separate plantings of arugula ‘West Bred’ are growing, as well as some ‘Yugoslavian Red’ butterhead lettuce.

Today (1 April) I planted 4 varieties of kale: ‘Black Magic’ and ‘Ebony’ lacinato types, ‘Holy Kale!’ blend mix, and ‘Russian Frills’.

I’ve been very concerned about 2 plantings of tomatoes (10 and 19 March) as they have not been forming true leaves. (The 8 March planting of tomatoes are growing well and normally.) We have just had too many cold nights at the wrong times for tomatoes in my unheated greenhouse, so I have put all tomato plants on heat mats as of Tuesday. They seem to be recovering now, thankfully!Tens of thousands of tiny ants love to move in whenever I place a flat on the heat mats or stack them in a warm area. (See banner photo.) When I shift things around, they quickly gather up their babies and move elsewhere. This happens over and over. They never harm any of the plants.

  • Peppers are beginning to sprout from the first planting.

  • On 19 March I planted more tomatoes, peppers, tomatillos and eggplants.

  • On 6 March I planted 13 varieties of tomatoes. Those have already sprouted. On 10 March I planted 15 tomato varieties and 14 pepper varieties. On 11 March I planted more parsley and some cilantro. On 12 March I planted 11 pepper varieties, 3 eggplant varieties, and 4 tomatillo varieties.
