EarthTainer

(homemade EarthBox)

California engineer and gardener Ray Newstead invented the EarthTainer —a DIY self-watering planter that I think is a big improvement over the commercially available EarthBox.

I built several of these a few years ago and have been especially successful growing melons using EarthTainers.

EarthTainers are easy to make. If I can, so can you!

EarthTainers make it possible to garden anywhere.

Details and construction instructions for EarthTainers are becoming more difficult to find, so I am gathering some resources here (as much for me as for you).

I’ve added some notes to the EarthTainer construction guide pdf
and updated information regarding dead links.
The photos are from my own EarthTainer plantings.

(I have some more notes to add to this page and will do so soon.)
